Havana, Jan 11 (Prensa Latina) Dozens of Cuban citizens gave tribute to Cuban revolutionary heroine Celia Sánchez Manduley in the 30th anniversary of her death.
The walk was headed by Lazara Mercedes Lopez, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC – Partido Comunista de Cuba) in the Cuban capital; and Ana Judith Area, first secretary of the Union of Young Communists in Havana.
She came to Cuban land on December 2, 1956 with the group of 82 men headed by Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz to start the war. On March 19, 1957, she climbed the Sierra Maestra Mountains and became a member of the Rebel Army, being the main promoter of the Mariana Grajales Coello Female Platoon.
