Amendment to Israeli ‘Citizenship Law’ to Ministers on Sunday

On Sunday, the Ministerial Committee on Legislation will consider a bill alternately known as the “Human Respect and Freedom Law” and the “Amendment to the Citizenship and Entry into Israel Law,” authored by Member of Knesset David Rotem (Yisrael Beiteinu).

Rotem says the purpose of the bill is to make a law out of decisions by large panels of the Supreme Court of Israel (Beit HaMishpat HaElyon) to prevent Arabs from using marriage to Jews to exploit citizenship rights afforded under the Law of Return.
