|A Riverside County sheriff’s deputy was arrested Friday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in November 2005 while he was off duty in Perris, authorities said.|
The teenager reported the assault to officers last month at the sheriff’s Perris Station, a sheriff’s news release said.
The deputy, Raymond Cesar Vidales, 44, of Moreno Valley, has worked for the Sheriff’s Department for 22 years and was assigned to the Southwest Detention Center in French Valley, sheriff’s officials said.
Sgt. Dean Spivacke said Vidales was in a relationship with the teen’s mother at the time the alleged assault occurred.
However, Vidales and the girl were not living in the same home, Spivacke said.
Efforts to reach Vidales’ attorney for comment Friday were unsuccessful.
A warrant for Vidales’ arrest was issued June 18 and detectives made arrangements for Vidales to turn himself in, the release said.
He pleaded not guilty Friday to sexual battery and two counts each of rape with a foreign object and molesting a child under 18, court records show.
Following his arraignment, Vidales was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside. He was released the same day on $100,000 bail, jail records show.
Sheriff’s spokesman Jerry Franchville said Vidales has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the case.
Vidales’ next court appearance is scheduled for July 9.
Sheriff’s officials ask that anyone with additional information about the case call Detective Ed Baeza at 951-955-2777.
